When living with limited mobility, scooters can provide a renewed level of independence for yourself or loved ones. One roadblock to being able to fully enjoy a necessary mobility scooter can be the cost. Motorized scooters can be expensive; however, there are options for coverage from various insurance providers.
Mobility Scooters, as well as other accessibility equipment, may be covered under your insurance policy. Insurance providers, such as Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, or private insurance, will likely provide mobility scooter coverage. Typically, the process to receive the insurance coverage includes meeting with your doctor and receiving a prescription for the mobility device. Your doctor will likely have specific evaluations and forms to complete that you will then be able to submit to your insurance provider. To find out if your private/primary insurance provider offers coverage for mobility scooters, and the process for receiving this insurance coverage, give them a call. Please note that Advanced Driving Systems does not work directly with insurance companies. Once purchased, the customer works with their insurance company for reimbursement for their mobility scooter.
